Best Event Venue – over 1,000 Attendees
Considered to be the oldest-surviving amusement park in Great Britain, the site of Dreamland dates back to the British railway boom of the early 1870s when, in its original form, the ‘Hall by the Sea’ was operated by the famous circus impresario, ‘Lord’ George Sanger.
In 2017, Dreamland received a significant investment and the amusement park was re-landscaped to provide a space that brings together lovingly restored vintage rides set against a backdrop of art installations, adventurous street food, unique bars and an eclectic programme of live events.
The iconic attraction now has an outdoor event space, which can accommodate 15,000 people, and has already welcomed the sold-out Demon Dayz festival headlined by Gorillaz, putting Dreamland firmly on the music venue map. This is alongside the legendary 1200 capacity Hall by the Sea, which once famously played host to The Rolling Stones and The Who.
The park has introduced more rides, further catering facilities have been installed, hirable spaces have improved and been rebuilt, and there is a significantly increased entertainment offering. This has led to a huge uplift in footfall, with over half a million visitors since Dreamland reopened in May 2017.
Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC)
Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) is an innovative, purpose-built venue which hosts a diverse range of events from international conferences and corporate events, to comedy and circus performances. Being located in right in the heart of the city, means that EICC has a minimal footprint, therefore an intelligent design was essential to create this highly-flexible space.
The venue originally opened in 1995 and was expanded in 2013, the facilities now include a series of adaptable auditoria and suites. With two main entrances and moveable internal walls, clients can choose to use the venue in its entirety; or it can be split to run two or more events simultaneously.
EICC’s team has great experience in maximising every space of the venue and adapting services around clients’ individual objectives and budget. The team takes an agile approach by utilising a combination of in-house facilities and expertise together with well-established supplier relationships, to deliver a seamless, integrated service. Leith’s at the EICC complement this service by providing effective and versatile catering solutions, delivering the latest dietary requirements for a diverse and multi-national audience.

Printworks London (formerly Harmsworth Quays) was established in the docklands in 1989, and for 24-years The Evening Standard, The Daily Mail and Metro newspapers rolled off its presses. The unique site has now embraced a new lease of life, in which the former factory’s warehouses and magnificent Press Halls have been revived as ground-breaking, multi-purpose event spaces. It comprises 5-acres of private, gated land, with seven event spaces arranged over multiple levels with a maze of corridors. The venue offers 119,200 sq. ft. of versatile event space with a capacity of 6,000 and a 2am licence on weekends. Printworks is the ultimate blank canvas for conferences, exhibitions, experiential events, concerts, product launches and filming.
The Guardian have called Printworks “eye-popping”, Time Out labelled its spaces “genuinely impressive” and Elle Magazine exclaimed “Just: YES”. Having officially launched, Amy Lamé, Night Czar for Mayor of London said; “The Printworks is a venue unlike any other in the capital and I’m so excited about the launch of this innovative space.”
Ricoh Arena / Wasps
The Ricoh Arena, home of Wasps Rugby Club, Wasps Netball and where Coventry City FC also play, offers first-class facilities and adapts regularly from a sporting venue to a music venue and to one of the UK’s leading conference and exhibition venues due to its versatility and flexibility.
Last year we smashed our own record for the number of events and visitors we hosted.
In the 12 months to June 2017, a total of 857 events were staged– an increase on the 777 events held for the previous 12 months, and our yearly visitor numbers topped the 1.6 million mark.
We have experienced the majority of this growth within the conference and meetings sector, taking 666 bookings in the last financial year compared to 583 bookings in the previous year. We hosted an extra 11 exhibitions during the same period after attracting business from established trade shows.
We are continually investing in the facilities for all services relating to putting on events, re-purposing some of our facilities and preparing our digital platforms for new ways of event engagement.
