Best Academic Venue
Chancellors Hotel (Manchester)
Chancellors is the only hotel in the University of Manchester’s collection of venues, based in the student hub of Fallowfield in South Manchester. We boast a 9 function room venue with 72 beautifully refurbished bedrooms and a 5 acre protected garden. Just a short distance from the lively city centre we attract a wide range of regular academic conferences from all three local universities, and some stretching even further nationally.
We’re frequent hosts to national institutions aiming to develop and educate their staff due to the well equipped function rooms of our quasi-rural estate, and our ability to coordinate any catering and hospitality needs a client can have.
For a piece of heritage, and peace of mind – it has to be Chancellors.
Being the best Academic Conference Venue is not just about delivering great events, it’s about working in harmony and balance with the local community and staff. It’s also about reflecting the values and giving back to the academic institution we’re proud to be a part of – we are an integral part of Loughborough University.
With four established properties, and another on the way, we consistently deliver great events, achieve commercial success that benefits the University and continue to expand our offering for the benefit of all our stakeholders, whether they be staff, clients, students, faculty or the local population.
Ron Cooke Hub
Designed to inspire creativity and interaction, the Ron Cooke Hub stands out as the centrepiece of the University of York’s Campus East. The Hub is home to a portfolio of rooms ranging from a 220-seat lecture theatre to a trio of floating, lake-side pods, and a fantastic 360degree presentation suite. The Hub also offers a philanthropic opportunity to conference organisers, with the profits from York Conferences being reinvested into facilities, teaching and research at the University of York.
Organisers can be reassured by the event management packages we offer, while our AV professionals are on hand to offer technical expertise throughout every stage of an event. Our efforts are continually recognised in the glowing testimonials and feedback we receive from our clients. During breaks, delegates can enjoy the fantastic hospitality on offer at the Hub; a combination of drinks and light snacks are available in the café, whilst fine-dining is also on offer for events. Customer service is at the heart of our ethos and we strive for excellence in everything we do, something which goes hand in hand with the awe-inspiring Ron Cooke Hub.

Well Met at Leeds Beckett University
Well Met, the Conference Office at Leeds Beckett University, began as an opportunity to use the ample, high-quality teaching spaces at Leeds Beckett (then Leeds Metropolitan University) to bring in business that would further supplement the educational and research purposes of the institution. 10 years on, the organisation has proved so successful it is stepping out on its own to manage and run a dedicated conferencing facility – Cloth Hall Court.
With a dedicated, superbly located, high-quality venue as a focus for term-time activities and prestigious, attractive academic room stock during the summer, Well Met is in an excellent position to be able to offer a consistent service unhampered by some of the compromises that can limit traditional academic or hotel venues. Cloth Hall Court sits directly across the road from Leeds Train Station making it exceptionally convenient to access from across the region and the country (2hr10 from London, 40mins from Manchester).
Well Met has shown itself to be a resilient and forward-thinking part of the Leeds conference and events scene, partnering with competitors and local institutions to bring in business like the Teach First Summer Institute that is a real asset to the local economy.
