Best Event Venue – 500 to 1,000 Attendees
Athena was originally designed and built in 1936 by Robert Arthur Bulllivant as an Odeon cinema. Recently the building has been restored to its former glory and retains its original art deco splendor, along with a newfound reputation as a leading events venue within the Midlands. Athena is attractive to our client’s because of its unique character which offers a refreshing change to a generic conference venue. From a beautiful six meter high atrium to multiple bars on multiple levels with panoramic views of Leicester’s cultural quarter and finally into the impressive dining area with balcony viewing over. We have always been determined to offer a personal level of customer service and we have built our reputation around this. Every client deals directly with the senior event manager who leads an experienced and dedicated events team.
“Last night was a triumph for Leicester and Athena. Visit England have declared it their best awards event ever. I heard nothing but praise for every aspect of the venue, service and in particular food. I heard the meal declared as the best meal ever eaten at such a large scale event and I would agree with that.” Martin – Leicestershire Promotions
Epsom Downs Racecourse, The Jockey Club
Epsom Downs racecourse has a rich heritage in horse racing, but recent years has seen it develop into an outstanding venue for conferences of all sizes too. The venue, which is fit for royalty, showcases wonderfully how traditional spaces can be re-imagined to suit client needs and host innovative, lucrative and successful conferences.
What makes Epsom stand out from the crowd is the dedication of the staff, who provide outstanding customer service consistently and take pride in every event organised. But the evidence particularly shows through the devotion of its clients, who return year on year, and in many cases, multiple times a year to hold conferences that continue to impress all that attend.
Madame Tussauds London, with its historical charm, was founded in 1835 on Baker Street and has been on its current site on Marylebone Road since 1884. Since the last century, it has been an events venue hosting the likes of Queen Victoria and her family for afternoon tea. It has kept up to date with the latest faces in pop-culture, music, sport, fame and history and in turn, the venue itself has been given the ‘red carpet’ treatment.
Madame Tussauds isn’t just a venue for hosting excellent corporate and private events. It has extra elements and takes guests on a journey through history and popular culture. Its roster of talent is constantly being updated and improved with bigger and better exhibitions year on year.
At Merlin, the fun and the magic is at the heart of all we do across our business. For events, we want to work with the client as closely and carefully as possible to ensure they and their guests have the best event and as much fun as they can at Madame Tussauds. We strive to make the pre-event planning simple, streamlining the process for them and giving them a dedicated, experienced events manager.
The Kia Oval
The Kia Oval is one of the finest – and fastest growing – conference and events destinations in central London.
A stone’s throw from the River Thames but still just outside the Congestion Charge Zone, the venue is perfectly located for the West End, Westminster and the City. There is parking for up to 50 cars on site and is within walking distance of five London Underground stations and five minutes from the overground station at Vauxhall. Clients would be hard pressed to find a venue as accessible the Kia Oval.
The Kia Oval can provide a variety of options for any kind of event, from a two-person meeting to a grand event for 1,000 guests. We regularly host large conferences, award ceremonies and dinners – with a strong roster of regularly returning blue chip clients from the commercial and public sectors; with IBM, City Week, The Voice, Department for Transport, Ministry of Justice, PiXL and EE all having held some of their key events throughout the year at the Kia Oval.
Change is good. After all, it’s what keeps things interesting. For our clients, for their guests and especially ourselves. It’s this thinking that makes the Vox Conference Centre a distinctly different beast from other venues. One that’s known for breaking event convention in terms of its fresh approach, modern facilities and unique 24/7 immersive location. Where you’ll find custom-built spaces, not comfort zones. And where delivering business as unusual is the order of the day.
Accommodating up to 900 delegates, our impressive conference suites don’t come in fixed sizes. Our award-winning catering doesn’t stick to the same old recipe for success. And we don’t rely on old technology, we embrace new thinking. After all, why fade into the background when you could stand out?
